The residence assistant acts as a link between SiS housing and the tenants. The residence assistant has several social and practical tasks:

• Welcome new tenants and provide practical information upon moving in
• Help with organizing the cleaning and washing of common rooms
• Organize social activities
• Contribute to a good living environment and prevent conflicts

Contact Securitas (22 97 10 76) if you experience noise, tagging, vandalism, water leaks, electrical problems, something that makes you feel unsafe or the like, outside of SiS's opening hours.

If you lose the keys outside of the reception's opening hours, Securitas will help you get into the apartment. This costs NOK 1,250.

Fire instructions for SiS housing

In order to ensure fire safety in our homes, it is important that you as a resident familiarize yourself with this description. Failure to react in the event of an alarm/fire, use of non-approved equipment, etc. may result in criminal liability or financial liability. Only approved electrical equipment must be used. See the rules of order and the rental contract for further information.

It is very important that you avoid constant unwanted alarms, as this contributes to a lack of response in the event of a real fire.

Fire instructions

• In the event of an alarm, an automatic notification is sent to the fire service, which immediately moves out.
• Emergency number at fire tel. 110
• Help others - try to extinguish if possible. (Where the alarm has been triggered is shown in the display at the fire control center)
  Close doors and windows.
• Wheelchair users: If no help is available, stay in the room, possibly the balcony, call the fire service on tel. 110 and wait for help.
  Residents gather on the outside of the building, clearly visible without obstructing the fire brigade.
• In the event of a false alarm – wait for instructions to return to the building.

If the alarm is triggered by accident (steam, food, showering, etc.):

• Call the fire service - tel. 110- report a false alarm, even if they are already on their way.
• Silence the alarm at the fire control center (see instructions at the main entrance)
• Meet the fire brigade.

Extinguishing equipment

Get to know where the extinguishing equipment is. This is readily available in all homes. The most common is a powder apparatus, but fire hoses can also occur.

Escape routes

In the event of a fire, it will be of great importance for the evacuation that the residents have familiarized themselves with the current escape routes from the home. The lift must not be used in the event of a fire. Escape routes and emergency exits must always be free, in the event of an evacuation. This is an uncompromising demand from the fire service, and SiS housing will be able to pursue violations of free escape routes in relation to financial responsibility for damage to property and loss of life and health. (This means that it is not permitted to put down bags, shoes, boxes etc. in corridors and stairwells)

How to avoid alarms in the home

• Never leave the stove when you are cooking.
• It is important that whoever turns on the stove also make sure the stove is turned off.
• Always use the fan when cooking. When using electronic equipment such as waffle irons, toasters, kettles, rice cookers, etc., always place these under the ventilator.
• Keep ovens and griddles clean. Burnt food residues can trigger the alarm.
• Fire detectors must NOT be dismantled or covered.

In the event of proven irresponsibility or continuous calls from the fire service, costs for calls will be charged to the resident according to the current price list.
Our fire alarm systems have been developed to warn of fire in the best possible way and are continuously tested and maintained.

Fire center

Get to know the center thoroughly. Feel free to contact SiS housing if you feel that further training is necessary.
The fire control center together with instructions on how the fire control center works can be found at the main entrance to the home. In the event of an alarm, it is shown in the fire control center where there is a fire or where an unwanted alarm has been triggered. This is important to be able to put out fires and not least in relation to evacuation. Remember that the landlord has the master key.

In the event of a false alarm

Have you triggered the fire alarm by mistake?

If so, you have to call 110 before 90 seconds have passed, to stop an emergency response from the fire department.

We are billed 10.000 NOK by the fire department for an unnecessary response. If you don’t call the alarm off in time, you will be billed this amount.

You can stay in SiS housing for a maximum of five (5) years.

If you have children, you can apply for support from Husbanken.

Pets are not allowed in SiS's homes.

Remember contents insurance when you move in with us - you is not insured for contents through SiS. You can check whether you are insured through your parents' insurance, an organization you are a member of, or possibly buy your own.

Why contents insurance? If unforeseen events should occur such as fire, water damage, break-ins in your home or shed, this could lead to expenses and losses for you as a resident. You can use the contents insurance to limit your own financial loss in such cases.

Click here to download the contract and rules for subletting. Remember that you yourself are responsible for bills being paid on time, and for any damage to the home, fixtures or other property. Completed contract is delivered to the SiS expedition in Kitty Kielland's house on Campus Ullandhaug.

You do not need to pay a deposit for SiS accommodation. Electricity, Internet and use of the laundry are included in the rent.

First rent is due after moving in, and you can get the invoice under finance on My page on Uni Always at the beginning of each month. The invoice is due on the 20th of the same month. The rent can also be paid by e-invoice. This comes fully completed to your online bank, and you only need to confirm the payment. If you have not paid the rent by the due date, you will be charged a late fee.

Telia provides wireless internet, and this is included in the rent. Use the code on the router to connect.

Doublets, single dormitories and the one-room apartments in Gulaksveien are furnished with a bed, desk, wardrobe, shower curtain and blinds or curtains.

The two-room and three-room apartments are unfurnished, but have a mini kitchen and wardrobe. Curtains or blinds in the windows.

Every apartment has an accompanying storage unit.

The lease is valid for one academic year. You will receive an extension offer in mid-January. You must accept this contract by 1 March. The rent will be regulated from 1 July.

Requirements for applying for an extension:
- Documentation of continued right to study must be submitted
- All bills must be paid

Keys can be collected from the SiS reception in Kitty Kielland's house on Campus Ullandhaug. Remember to bring your admission certificate and receipt for paid semester fee. If there are any deficiencies with the accommodation, you must notify us as soon as possible.

If you lose the keys outside reception opening hours, Securitas (22 97 10 76) will help you gain access to your apartment. This costs NOK. NOK 1,250

When moving out outside the reception's opening hours, you can leave the key in the hatch to the left of the entrance door to Kitty Kielland's house. First, the key must be placed in an envelope marked with your name and residential address. Envelopes can be found next to the hatch.

The notice period is two (2) months. You must cancel the accommodation on our housing page. Only this form of termination is accepted.

General about parking:

It is your responsibility to familiarize yourself with the rules regarding parking. These rules are subject to change, and it is important that you keep up to date on the information we provide here.

The electrical outlets from our student apartments, or external electrical outlets, should not be used to charge electric cars. Where we do not have charging stations, you must use fast chargers. You can look up the locations of these fast charging stations at Norsk elbilforening's website or app.

Cars without a license plate or cars that are not used weekly should not take up our parking spaces. These cars will be removed, and the cost will fall on the owner.

Gulaksveien:

Parking belonging to the homes.

If there is limited capacity, you are referred to public parking.

We ask you to thoroughly familiarize yourself with the signage and current parking regulations for the area.

The residents themselves are responsible for cleaning the TV rooms and communal kitchens. The host helps to create laundry lists based on weekly cleaning. It is expected that the common room is cleaned before leaving. The common rooms must also be cleaned thoroughly twice per semester. SiS housing informs about the distribution of work, and checks the rooms afterwards.

All rubbish must be sorted at source. Buried waste containers are placed clearly visible from the main entrance to the home. Please do not leave rubbish next to the waste stations. This will not be collected.

There is a TV with Chromecast in the common rooms. Here you can stream whatever you want.

When you move out, the home must be cleaned and taken over by SiS in the same condition as when you moved in. You hand in the key at the SiS reception, or in the post box of the SiS residence. You will find the postbox to the left of the main entrance door to Kitty Kielland's house on Campus Ullandhaug.

The home will be checked by a caretaker, and you will be invoiced for any damage or poor washing.

Please watch this video or read the guidelines for cleaning the apartment when moving out, below. Unsatisfactory cleaning will be fined.

The dormitory/apartment:

Work tables and other tables are washed

• Chairs are wiped down and vacuumed
• Beds are wiped down and vacuumed
• Book shelves and lamps are washed
• Floor with moldings is washed (remove the bed and other furniture)
• Walls are washed
• Ceiling is dusted with a damp cloth
• Wardrobes are washed inside and out
• Doors are washed
• All windows are washed inside. The reversible windows are also washed on the outside
• Curtains are washed at 30 degrees. Do not tumble dry
• Colored mattress toppers are washed at 60 degrees (see washing instructions)
• White fitted sheets/mattress toppers are washed at 95 degrees. Do not use a tumble dryer
• Bathroom and toilet:

Shower curtain is washed at 40 degrees with gentle drying

• Mirror, sink, cabinet and toilet are washed
• Floor and walls are washed, and ceiling is dusted with a damp cloth
• Door is washed
• Common corridor:

Floor, walls, cupboards and ceiling are dusted with a damp cloth

• Storage is cleaned and washed, and contents are removed
• Shared kitchen:

Clean and wash own/shared drawers and cupboards

• Clean food out of the fridge
• Further please refer to the rotation list and agreement with the other users of the kitchen about how joint cleaning should be carried out in connection with moving out
• The kitchen in an apartment:

Clean and wash drawers and cupboards (also the top of the cupboards), and clean the worktop

• Wash walls and floors. Dust the roof with a damp cloth
• Clean the fridge, stove and kitchen fan thoroughly, both outside and inside
• Clean behind and under the stove, after the stove has been pulled out
• Laundry
